Harrison’s Diamonds and Designs Announces Going Out of Business Event

Ephrata, Washington – [November 6, 2023] – After decades of serving the Ephrata community, Harrison’s Diamonds and Designs, a jewelry store deeply rooted in family tradition and passion, is announcing its Going Out of Business Event. The event will commence on Thursday, November 9th, starting at 12 Noon, with discounts on all Fine Jewelry and Diamonds at up to 70% off.  We are marking the end of an era for a business that has been cherished by generations.

Chris Harrison’s journey in the jewelry business was one steeped in dedication and a profound family legacy. Growing up in the idyllic town of Omak, Washington, he spent his early years working alongside his uncle Johnny and cousin Dean Harrison at the renowned Harrison Jewelers. This family-owned jewelry store had been a cornerstone of the community for over 65 years, creating cherished memories through the celebration of life’s most precious moments.

With a solid foundation in place, Chris continued his education, graduating from the jewelry tech and watchmaking program at Spokane Community College in 1980. His thirst for knowledge led him to Santa Cruz, California, where he served an apprenticeship at Shockley Jewelers, refining his skills and nurturing his passion for jewelry craftsmanship.

In 1988, Chris’s life took a momentous turn when he embarked on a new chapter by purchasing Bakers Jewelers in Ephrata. The transaction, valued at a modest $2,000, included a 400 sq ft rental space, three showcases, a safe, and even a cherished vacuum cleaner.

Recognizing the need for assistance in the store and after several unsuccessful employee hires, Chris reached out to Christine, proposing she return to work at Harrison’s Diamonds and Designs. After thoughtful consideration, she agreed, marking the commencement of a new journey for both of them. Five years later, Chris and Christine found themselves not only as a harmonious couple in life but also as a dynamic team at work.

In 2004, they embarked on a significant milestone by purchasing a prime corner building with the assistance of an SBA loan. Chris’s father, brothers, and sister-in-law Bev played pivotal roles in transforming this space into the contemporary jewelry store that it is today. Their unwavering support was instrumental in realizing this ambitious dream.

Year by year, Chris and Christine nurtured their business, offering high-quality jewelry at fair and honest prices. With Chris’s expertise as a jewelry designer and goldsmith, they carved a niche for themselves as one of the few stores in Eastern Washington capable of performing expert repairs and creating custom designs on-site.

Today, Harrison’s Diamonds and Designs stands as a thriving family business, proudly employing four dedicated team members, including their son, Kacy Harrison. Kacy’s journey took him to The Alan Revere Academy in San Francisco, where he honed his skills and knowledge of custom design and repair, earning his place as one of the finest goldsmiths in the state.

As Harrison’s Diamonds and Designs embarks on this bittersweet Going Out of Business Event, the community is invited to celebrate the legacy of a jewelry store that has been a cornerstone of Ephrata. The event, starting on Thursday, November 9th, at 12 Noon, will feature special promotions, discounts of up to 70% off, and a chance to acquire a piece of history from a business that has shared in the community’s joys and milestones for generations.

Join us in bidding farewell to Harrison’s Diamonds and Designs and the cherished memories it has created over the years. It’s an opportunity to own a piece of the legacy that will be remembered fondly by Ephrata and beyond.
